First is the opportunity of individuals to test themselves for abuses they are already involved in and to know what the results mean.

Suggestions of what might be done may include some or all of the following:

  1. Having a radar gun (we do a quarter mile in under a second).
  2. Monitored (24x7) radio transmitter LCD cameras mostly hidden from view and strategically placed around town to cover areas subject to the most problems.
  3. Protection patrols from 10:30pm to 4:30am daily (gather pix or witness information to be handed to the RCMP)
  4. Post laws we take action on.
  5. A breathalyzer (so drinkers can become familiar with what may make them subject to roadside suspensions of their driver’s license.)
  6. Emulate the actions of other communities to curtail offensive activities.
  7. Create town ordinance to have drinkers who have ordered 3 or more beer/drinks relinquish their vehicle keys until they have produced favorable breathalyzer results so the pub no longer contributes to drinking and driving. (Our contention is that most people do not realize by having a 3rd beer most are already courting a roadside license suspension for impaired driving. See table below.)

Most bullies do not become criminals, they simply overstep the bounds of acceptability within the confines of a community, be it a school, home or town. However, where policing does not exist in a meaningful way bullies and hooligans learn they can push the limits and get away with it. Everyone loses when such actions occur. Modern technology and patient, observant participation significantly reduces the problem. Our aim is to examine the methods used elsewhere to see what can be done to reduce the problems of boozed up warriors in their vehicles who use them to create a ruckus to vent their frustrations and other pent-up feelings. It is unlikely the majority of offences are being done by locals.

Creating a ruckus is to some considered a rite of passage. The problem with that is the property damage they leave behind within the community, and the occasional times when they kill themselves or someone else by losing control. Too often connected to creating a ruckus is the amount of drinking that precedes it.
